Creative block is the bane of every creatives existence. It is exhausting, frustrating, disheartening, and a general waste of time. If your career is based on you creating, managing, content, these tips will help you to tackle creative block.

If you have trouble generating meaningful ideas it may mean you only have a superficial understanding of the client, problem, audience, or content. It is important that you have a clear understanding and visualization of these points to help you move forward in this project.

Define the Problem

This may seem really obvious but, going back to the project brief to refresh your memory can bring you back to the basics of why you are tasking yourself with this project. It is important to understand what the purpose of the project is, a deep understanding will yield on topic results.

Define the Audience

Demographics can be helpful but psycho-graphics tend to be more informative, “what are the opinions, and behaviors of the audience?” try imagining the world through their eyes. what are their needs and wants. Two traits you will find invaluable in this pursuit are empathy and mental visualization.

Quick Sketching/Drafting/ Creating Mood Boards or Word Webs

Curate as opposed to creating, find things that evoke the look feel and tone of the solution. By not investing a lot time in making ‘stuff’, you will have the brain space to focus on the main delivering the am of the project.
